Bachelorette Party Sugar Cookies

There was only ever one choice for my sister Liza’s Bachelorette Party… it had to be Karaoke.  No question about it. Liza and I are karaoke queens, and I'm happy to report that I *think* after this ridiculously fun Bachelorette Party, we may have finally succeeded in converting our youngest sister Donna to karaoke-obsessed.

Of course, there were other items on the Bachelorette Party agenda, besides dancing and singing karaoke until we lost our voices, but I shall leave that to your imagination ;)

As with all of my sugar cookies, these were made using the recipe found here and decorated with royal icing. For tips and tricks click here!

The boobs, butts, and corsets were all made using heart cookie cutters. The boobs and butts are an upside-down heart with the points cut off at the collar bone and the waist line and the corset is made from two hearts, joined upside-down at the cinched waist, with the top of the upside-down heart cut off at the leg.

Bridal Shower Pink Garden Sugar Cookies

Earlier this summer, I had the honor of hosting my older sister's Liza's bridal shower. I love party planning (almost as much as I love baking), and this party was especially fun to put together with such an amazing group of bridesmaids to help me! And we had the perfect setting for a delightfully pink garden party, thanks to Liza's mother-in-law-to-be, who graciously offered her home to hold the shower.

Liza is just about a year older than me, so we grew up basically as twins (even though she has a twin, our brother Andrew). When we were growing up, her favorite color was pink, and mine was yellow. Every time we got matching outfits, dolls, shoes, hair name it... hers was pink and mine was yellow. (My favorite color still is yellow, in case you were wondering!)

Anyway, when she decided to have a beach wedding, and use beachy shades for the wedding color palette, I knew right away that the bridal shower was going to be overloaded with PINK. When her future hubby's sister suggested the outdoor setting in the garden, the Pink Garden Party all came together in my head.

And of course the first part of the party planning process for me is always the cookies!

Shark Week Birthday Sugar Cookies

Last week was Shark Week, and I have to admit that I did not watch one second of it. Thanks in large part to my mom (love her dearly) who let me watch Jaws (and the sequels) at a very young age... I was scarred for life after watching those movies. I'm a complete beach bum & love swimming, but an irrational fear takes over as soon as I'm in the ocean past my knees. Just thinking about their teeth gives me chills!

Well, my good friend's son had his 5th birthday last week, and he wanted a Shark Party! So I got to have some Shark Week fun, without having to watch any of the gruesome specials on the Discovery Channel.

I think what I liked most about these cookies is that they reached just the right blend of cartoon shark and scary shark!
